Starting Point / Challenge
The starting point was the need for a high-speed macro shot of falling coffee beans. The lead time was very short and the available budget limited. At the same time, the visual expectations were high: the shot needed to meet the premium standards of the brand and feel fully cinematic.
Solution / Execution
A traditional CGI solution would have exceeded both the budget and the timeline.A conventional live-action high-speed shoot was equally unrealistic under the given conditions. AI proved to be the most effective path forward. It allowed us to achieve the desired quality within the remaining timeframe and budget. An additional advantage was that high-speed cinematography shares key visual characteristics with AI-generated imagery — making it a natural and purpose-built solution.
Result & Takeaways
The result was a high-speed shot of falling coffee beans generated entirely with AI on short notice — visually indistinguishable from real high-speed cinematography and delivered at a fraction of the cost. Learning: food loves AI — or vice versa. Especially in selective shots, it proves remarkably reliable - capturing textures, highlights, and that all-important „appetite appeal“.
